Moneymaking Opportunities On The Web For Stay-At-Home Parents
It has been almost a decade since I made a decision to leave my job to work from home. The decision to ditch my day job was because I felt that I was overworked, so much so that it erodes into my already limited family time. At the same time, I wanted to be a more hands-on dad to my son whose first steps and words I didn't get to see or hear.

Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to make money online making the opportunity to work from home not impossible at all. True enough, I was able to land a job as a virtual assistant for an online marketing agency in less than a week. This job involved writing articles and providing administrative support. The salary I got from this stint was close to what I was able to earn from my last job, but surprisingly, I get to enjoy more of it. This is because I no longer pay for fuel or transport, or buying new clothes to replace old ones.

During my employment a virtual assistant I came across different online marketing methods. Eventually, this familiarity developed into interest, and I signed up for seminars and took supplemental courses to learn the industry’s best practices with the intent of starting an online marketing firm and be my own boss.

I teamed up with my wife who knows how to create and design websites so we can offer both Internet marketing and website set-up services. Our clients like the fact that they no longer had to deal with several service providers to make their website and market their products and services. To attract customers, we made sure that our website showed our level of expertise and that we rank highly on the Web. Our first clients were non-profit organizations and blog owners. Over time, our customers grew in number and became diverse, now including companies from different industries. Our first office was a rarely used shed in our garden. This allowed us to save on capital and overhead costs during the company’s infancy. Fate has been kind to us and now we now have a physical storefront in the city center. My wife and I decided that we should give other stay-at-home parents the chance to make money online from their own homes, so most of the people we employed work remotely and we just transmit assignments through e-mail.

This kind of online marketing business requires good communication skills, as well as patience and creativity in bountiful measure. You also have to be systematic in dealing with projects in order to meet deadlines. It also requires a good eye to notice errors and quickly troubleshooting them. In this constantly evolving industry, it pays to be open-minded as well.

Owning a business always has its risks, even those operating online. There is always that risk that you will not be able to meet the client’s expectations. There is also that risk of your system being attacked by virus and hackers which can affect your company's productivity which in turn can hurt your reputation and earning potential. However, these risks are not entirely unmanageable.

The company is now a decade old, and it provides a steady and substantial income stream for me and my family. I could say from experience that being a stay-at-home parent is really not bad at all.
